Doctors Without Borders appeals for the safe arrival of aid in El Fasher and Zamzam camp

26 June 2024 (PEN) Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has appealed to the warring parties to allow safe access to the conflict areas in El Fasher and Zamzam camp, where vital humanitarian assistance continues to be provided to civilians suffering from a catastrophic malnutrition crisis.

Michel Lacherette, head of the emergency department at Médecins Sans Frontières, stressed the escalation of attacks and clashes in the region, pointing to the failure of the warring parties to protect medical facilities and allow essential aid supplies to arrive. He stressed that there is an urgent need to increase support and resources to meet the needs of the affected population, noting that the continued fighting is hampering humanitarian efforts and putting the lives of many people at risk.
