The Secretary-General of an international federation mourns volunteers in Sudan

17 July 2024 (PEN) The Secretary-General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Jagan Chapagain, expressed his deep sadness following the death of two Sudanese Red Crescent Society volunteers.

He said that both Babakir Fadl Al-Mawla and Aldo Jaber were tragically killed while performing their duty in the city of Sinnar, offering condolences to their families.

Chapagin explained that the Sudanese Red Crescent has lost six of its employees and volunteers since the conflict began in Sudan in mid-April last year.

He described the incident as “unacceptable,” stressing the need to ensure the protection of humanitarian workers in all circumstances.
