OCHA: The Sudan crisis is one of the fastest unfolding crises in the world

January 15, 2024 (PEN) The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said that today marks nine months since the outbreak of the conflict in Sudan, as it explained that it is one of the fastest crises unfolding in the world.

The office stated that Sudan is experiencing the largest displacement crisis in the world, with 7.4 million people displaced internally and externally.

OCHA explained that one out of every two people in Sudan needs humanitarian assistance, while 177 million people face the risk of hunger.

There has been a conflict in Sudan since April 15, 2023 between the armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces, which has led to a catastrophic deterioration in the humanitarian situation.
