OCHA reveals the death of an aid worker in Darfur as a result of a bullet wound

12 June 2024 (PEN) The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has warned that the ongoing clashes in and around El Fasher are causing severe damage to humanitarian workers and operations.

On Monday, an aid worker affiliated with the international non-governmental relief organization in Darfur died due to complications from a bullet wound on June 1, the library reported. The employee was shot while returning to Zamzam camp for displaced people, after transporting a patient to El Fasher Maternity Hospital.

OCHA added that the aid worker was the sixth killed in Sudan during the past six weeks. OCHA once again stressed that in Sudan and in conflicts everywhere else in the world, humanitarian workers must be protected.
