WFP announces arrival of first aid shipment to Wad Madani

January 22, 2025 (PEN) The World Food Programme announced in an urgent statement the arrival of the first shipment of aid to the city of Wad Madani in Al-Jazeera State, for the first time in more than a year, in a move aimed at meeting urgent food needs in the region.

The programme explained that about 30,000 people threatened by famine will benefit from this vital aid, which includes basic food supplies to support the population affected by the worsening humanitarian crisis.

The statement stressed that the World Food Programme plans to continue regular distribution operations to prevent the food crisis from worsening, stressing the importance of ensuring safety and security to ensure that aid reaches those who deserve it in light of the existing security and logistical challenges.
