United Nations: The fighting in Sudan is disrupting vital humanitarian operations

January 11, 2024 (PEN) The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs expressed its deep concern about the scale of displacement resulting from the spread of the conflict in Sudan, which has fueled the largest displacement crisis in the world, according to the Office’s report statement.

OCHA explained that more than 6 million people have been displaced within the country since mid-April, while more than 1.3 million people have fled across the border to neighboring countries.

Regarding the humanitarian issue, the office expressed its concern about the disruption of vital humanitarian operations in Sudan as a result of the ongoing fighting, adding that nearly 9,000 suspected cases of the cholera epidemic have been reported in nine states, an increase of 40% compared to the number of cases one month ago, according to World Health and the Federal Ministry of Health. .
