The United Nations allocates 15 million US dollars to confront the food crisis in Sudan

February 13, 2024 (PEN) The United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Martin Griffiths, announced the allocation of 15 million US dollars from the United Nations Emergency Response Fund to confront the worsening food crisis in Sudan.

Griffiths said in a tweet via (X) : “Nearly 5 million people in Sudan face emergency levels of hunger, and as the conflict continues, things will deteriorate.”

Recently, the United Nations announced the launch of its humanitarian response plan for Sudan, calling on donors to support the plan worth 4.1 billion US dollars to address the humanitarian impacts resulting from the conflict that has been ongoing since mid-April in Sudan.
