January 31, 2024 (PEN) The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said that the World Food Programme’s hunger map showed that nearly 16 million people in Sudan suffer from insufficient food consumption.
The office stated that in four states in the Darfur region, more than 40% of the population suffers from insufficient food consumption.
International organizations had called for a ceasefire and the opening of safe corridors to address the catastrophic shortage of food and medicine, which led to a major humanitarian crisis in Sudan.
