Islamic Cooperation welcomes the Security Council resolution calling for a cessation of hostilities in Sudan during Ramadan

March 10, 2024 (QNA) The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation welcomed the UN Security Council resolution, which called for a cessation of hostilities in Sudan during the holy month of Ramadan.

The General Secretariat affirmed its support for all regional and international efforts in support of the Sudanese people and their aspirations for peace, democracy, security and development, and the commitment of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to harness all its capabilities to support Sudan in line with the decisions of the Islamic Summit and the Council of Foreign Ministers.

Hussein Ibrahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization, had previously called on all warring parties in Sudan to work to stop hostilities and all acts of violence in all its forms, on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan, and to resume negotiations within the framework of the Jeddah Platform to reach a permanent ceasefire agreement, and work to achieve A peaceful settlement to end this crisis.
