Sudan receives first shipment of tuberculosis and AIDS drugs

4 September 2023(PEN) With funding from the Global Support Fund, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Sudan delivered the first shipment of tuberculosis and AIDS medicines for Sudan to the Federal Ministry of Health in the presence of the Department of Disease Control and Medical Supplies at the warehouses of the National Fund for Medical Supplies in the three states, Red Sea State, River Nile State and Gezira State, in the last week of last August, provided that distribution will take place immediately to the rest of the states to cover the needs of patients in all countries.

The shipment included about (24) tons of tuberculosis treatments, resistant tuberculosis and antiretrovirals for AIDS patients, covering the country's needs for the next six months and worth approximately $ 1.3 million, and it is also arranged to receive the second shipment in the coming months to cover the remaining needs of the national tuberculosis and AIDS programs in the country until the middle of next year 2024.

It should be noted that the distribution of medicines has already begun with the rest of the global support treatments and grants to Kordofan and Darfur states through medical supplies according to the distribution plan of the Department of Disease Control and distribution is underway to the rest of the states of Sudan.
