November 3, 2024 (PEN) The World Health Organization has expressed deep concern over reports from Al-Jazeera State, noting that six hospitals were attacked by the Rapid Support Forces, which led to the deterioration of health care conditions for a population already facing a severe shortage of medical services, according to the organization.
The organization noted that two health care workers were killed in these attacks, a medical engineer who was supporting the only dialysis center in the east of the island, and a doctor who chose to remain in the area to provide health services. The organization expressed its deep sympathy to the families of the victims and their colleagues.
The organization called for the need to respect international humanitarian law and ensure the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure, including health workers and health facilities, and indicated that above all, the World Health Organization calls for peace.
