The United Nations Population Fund condemns the use of sexual violence as a weapon in the conflict in Sudan

March 2, 2024 (PEN) The United Nations Population Fund said that, amid the chaos of war in Sudan, perpetrators are using sexual violence as a weapon, calling for an end to sexual violence as a tactic of war.

The Fund stated that the lack of protection services leads to doubling the trauma suffered by women and girls, noting that it is working with its partners to expand the scope of medical, psychological and social support for survivors.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights indicated in his statement yesterday that the Office of the High Commissioner documented 60 incidents of sexual violence related to the ongoing conflict in Sudan.
