The International Committee of the Red Cross: Millions of Sudanese are unable to meet their basic needs

20 August 2023 (PEN) The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said that the escalation of fighting in Sudan came on top of years of fighting, instability and economic turmoil, which led to a rise in the prices of basic commodities by more than 150% while farmers lost their crops in the climate shocks.

The International Committee of the Red Cross stated that millions of Sudanese are unable to meet their basic needs.

The ICRC continues to cross front lines, evacuating the most vulnerable, assisting with the transport of released detainees, and supporting hospitals in and around Khartoum, Darfur and other parts of Sudan. In addition to helping families separated by conflict to communicate with their loved ones.
