International migration reveals the escalation of clashes in El Fasher and the displacement of dozens of families

4 July 2024 (PEN) The International Organization for Migration reported that armed clashes continued in El Fasher city, North Darfur State, on 2 and 3 July 2024, between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces. Clashes were recorded in the eastern and southern neighborhoods, in addition to the Jebel Marra Private Hospital.

Field teams reported that about 50 families were displaced from the affected neighborhoods to other areas within Al-Fasher locality, amid reports of civilian deaths and injuries. The situation in the city is still tense and does not allow predicting the near future.

The organization stated that it will continue to closely track displacement developments, and will provide periodic updates on the movement of people and humanitarian changes throughout Sudan.
