USAID confirms that civilians continue to be affected by the ongoing conflict

January 23, 2024 (PEN) The United States Agency for International Development said that Sudan is still facing the effects of ongoing conflict, economic shocks, political unrest, and recurring environmental risks, resulting in 15.8 million people in need of humanitarian assistance during 2023.

The agency explained that the ongoing conflict between the armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces has caused widespread displacement, while humanitarian needs have worsened throughout the country.

The international agency stated that the United States, as the largest international donor of humanitarian aid to Sudan, continues to provide neutral assistance based on the needs of vulnerable populations affected by the conflict.

Sudan is witnessing a state of humanitarian deterioration following the ongoing conflict between the armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces since April 15 of last year.
