UNICEF confirms the need of 14 million children for humanitarian aid

January 16, 2024 (PEN) The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) confirmed that 14 million children are in need of aid, in light of the humanitarian catastrophe facing Sudan.

The organization stated that the Sudan crisis is an abandoned crisis that deserves greater attention.

It also called for a ceasefire, unhindered access to humanitarian aid, and the provision of funding in order to save lives and enhance resilience.

Sudan has witnessed a humanitarian catastrophe since the outbreak of conflict between the warring parties in mid-April, which has negatively affected civilians, especially children, who live in harsh conditions.
