Perillo meets with Sufi leaders, political and youth leaders in Cairo

November 10, 2024 (PEN) As part of his regional tour, U.S. Special Envoy for Sudan Tom Perriello said he was pleased to meet with Sudanese Sufi leaders in Cairo, where they discussed ways to end the increasing attacks on Sudanese communities. He stressed a shared commitment to building lasting peace and resolving the conflict.

Perillo added that he drew hope for a solution to the crisis in Sudan from meetings he held in Cairo over the past two days, which included Sufi leaders, diverse political coalitions, youth leaders focused on transitional justice, and humanitarian experts working to deliver food and medicine to all 18 states of Sudan.
