Statements of the Resistance Committees in Sudan and the Forces of Freedom and Change regarding the decision of the Governor of the Nile River State

10 January 2024 (PEN) A decree was issued on Monday, January 8, 2024 under the signature of the Governor of River Nile State, Dr. Muhammad Al-Badawi Abdel Maged, banning the resistance committees and the Freedom and Change Coordination in the state, as it reads as follows ( This order is called. Emergency Order No. 2 / of 2024. Implementation begins on the date signed, and anyone who violates the provisions of this order shall be punished by imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months, or a fine of an amount not exceeding 1,000,000 only, i.e. one million Sudanese pounds. In case of repeated violation, the penalty shall be doubled. The decision also stipulated the dissolution of the change and services committees in the neighborhoods, villages and Al-Furqan in the state, and this order falls under Emergency Order No. 3/2024 under Article (9) of the Decentralized Governance Law of 2020).

The resistance committees and the forces of freedom and change confirmed their complete rejection of this decision and issued their statements on social networking sites. The statement of the Forces of Freedom and Change said, "We have seen the decision, and the consequences of such decisions exacerbate and increase the suffering of the citizen and the displaced to the state and its cities, and those who receive services and assistance from the service committees that fill the absence of state institutions. She explained in her statement that the directions and measures taken by the Governor of the River Nile State, especially the arrests on a regional, ethnic and regional basis, are steps to drag the country into civil war.

The Berber Resistance Committees also commented on the state emergency order that "the resistance committees began to be formed and formed since 2010. It continued to evolve and carry forward to the 2013 revolution. And the 2016 uprising, up to the December 2018 revolution, which continues despite all the conspiracies, and the resistance committees have not received permission throughout their march from any authority to implement their revolutionary projects, which tremble from opportunists and all those who support any attempt to block the way to the glorious December revolution, and we say it loudly (machine in the rail we extend)."

The coordination of the resistance committees in Khartoum also announced on social media pages, including the South Belt Resistance Committees, their solidarity with the resistance committees in River Nile state, and condemned this decision, considering it a legalization of the frenzied campaigns against its membership through assassinations, arrests and other methods of intimidation, adding, "This decision is only to suppress freedoms and monopolize political activity."

It was stated in a press statement to the gathering (Resistance Committees of the Sharqia neighborhood - Atbara) "We declare that we do not recognize at all these decisions, which fully confirm that this war is the war of the dissolved National Congress, and the ousted Islamic movement, against the glorious revolution."

"This decision proves that this war has the main goal of trying to eliminate the burning December revolution," said the Hajj Youssef Revival Resistance Committees Gathering.
