Rosemary DiCarlo urges support for the UN Secretary-General's envoy to Sudan

December 2, 2023 (pen) UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo said that the Security Council voted to close the United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS). Adding that the United Nations does not abandon the Sudanese people.

Rosemary urged DiCarlo to provide full support to the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ramtane Lamamra, to strengthen efforts aimed at ending the devastating conflict, as she put it.

It is noteworthy that the UN Security Council yesterday adopted a resolution to end the United Nations Mission to Support the Transitional Phase in Sudan - UNITAMS, expressing its alarm at the continued violence and deteriorating humanitarian situation in Sudan.
