Karim Khan visits camps for displaced Sudanese in eastern Chad and briefs the Security Council

January 28, 2024 (PEN) The Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, arrived in the Chadian capital, N’Djamena, where the Prosecutor met with the Chadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of State for Justice and Human Rights, and the Chadian Prosecutor General.

The International Criminal Prosecutor will visit camps for displaced Sudanese in eastern Chad, in the city of Adre and the surrounding areas, where he will meet with those displaced due to the conflict in Sudan who are affected by Rome’s alleged crimes, according to the court.

Prosecutor General Karim Khan will also brief the UN Security Council tomorrow, Monday, on the situation in Darfur.

The regions of eastern Chad witnessed a major humanitarian crisis as a result of the ongoing displacement from the city of El Geneina, in addition to local communities that are already in need of humanitarian aid, according to international reports.
