April 15, 2024 (PEN) Canadian Foreign Minister, the Honorable Melanie Jolie, announced the imposition of economic sanctions on individuals and companies in response to the continuing conflict in Sudan.

The Foreign Ministry stated that it imposed sanctions on Abdul Rahim Hamdan Dagalo and Ali Ahmed Karti for directly and indirectly undermining peace, security and stability in Sudan.

It also imposed sanctions on Al-Junaid Multi-Activities Company Limited, GlaxoSmithKline Advance Company Limited, the Defense Industries Company, and Zadna International Investment Company Limited, stressing that it will continue to work to ensure that those responsible for human rights violations in Sudan are held accountable.
