“Emergency Lawyers” expresses its concern over the arrest of lawyer Bakri Al-Mahi by Division 17 intelligence in Sinja.

April 13, 2024 (PEN) The “Emergency Lawyers” group reported that an armed force consisting of three four-wheel drive vehicles belonging to the intelligence of the 17th Infantry Division of the Armed Forces stormed yesterday, Friday, April 12, 2024, the home of the lawyer and human rights defender. Bakri Al-Mahi in the Qalaa neighborhood in the city of Sinja, and was taken to an unknown destination.

The group warned the leadership of the 17th Infantry Division against continuing to carry out illegal arrests targeting civilians, political activists, and members of resistance committees in various localities in the state. The group confirmed that it holds the division's leadership fully responsible for the safety of lawyer Bakri Al-Mahi and the safety of all its detainees.
