Emergency Lawyers praises the Security Council's resolution calling for a halt to the fighting in Sudan during Ramadan

March 10, 2024 (PEN) The Emergency Lawyers Group appreciated the resolution issued by the Security Council, drafted by the United Kingdom, calling for adherence to a ceasefire in Sudan during the month of Ramadan, implementing the obligations of both parties under international humanitarian law and the Jeddah Declaration, and allowing unimpeded access to humanitarian aid.

She stressed that stopping the war reduces violations, especially related to fighting, and paves the way for the delivery of humanitarian aid in accordance with the pledges and declarations issued by the two warring parties.
