Emergency Lawyers warns of continued violations against civilians

January 25, 2024 (PEN) The Emergency Lawyers Group said that the Rapid Support Forces attacked the city of Babanusa and battles took place between them and the armed forces with light and heavy weapons and aerial and artillery bombardment, resulting in the deaths of 23 civilians and more than 30 wounded.

The group condemned the Rapid Support Forces' continued expansion of the war zone into safe areas, denouncing the serious violations committed by the forces.

The group noted that crimes do not have a statute of limitations and are subject to criminal accountability in accordance with international humanitarian law and the Statute of the International Criminal Court.

The Emergency Lawyers Group stated that it is determined to monitor all violations by both sides of the war, stressing that it will continue its cooperation with regional and international organizations to expose crimes and work to prevent impunity.
