EgyptAir resumes direct flights from Egypt to Sudan

August 31, 2023 (Associated Press) The Egyptian authorities said that the national airline will resume direct flights to Sudan this week, after high-level talks between the Egyptian president and the Sudanese army chief.

Egypt's civil aviation ministry said on Tuesday that EgyptAir will launch a weekly flight from Cairo to the Sudanese port city of Port Sudan, starting on Friday. No further details were given.

Sudan plunged into chaos in mid-April when tensions between the army, led by Abdel Fattah Burhan, and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, exploded into open fighting in the capital, Khartoum, and elsewhere.
