The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees calls for an end to the conflict and respect for the safety of civilians

January 15, 2024 (PEN) The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees said that more than 7.5 million people have been forced to flee since the outbreak of the conflict in Sudan nine months ago.

The Commission confirmed that the fighting had expanded from the capital, Khartoum, to other parts of the country, forcing more civilians to flee their homes.

It also appealed to all warring parties to end the conflict, “respect the safety of civilians, and allow humanitarian aid and life-saving services to reach those in need.”
