The United Nations Commissioner reveals the suffering of Sudanese refugees in neighboring countries

February 1, 2024 (pen) The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, said that Sudanese refugees in Kurmuk in Ethiopia confirmed that they fled a brutal war and fear returning to Sudan, stressing that he heard the same stories in Chad, Egypt and South Sudan.

Grande added in his tweet via (X): “Are the parties to the conflict in Sudan and their leaders listening to the desperate call for peace coming from their people?” .

The UN Commissioner expressed his thanks to Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed for Ethiopia’s continued and good policies towards refugees, as he put it.

He confirmed his arrival in Sudan to shed light on the plight of Sudanese civilians and refugees hosted in neighboring countries, adding that they are all stuck in the brutal and worsening war.

Filippo Grandi called for solidarity and support for the people of Sudan, indicating that most of the world ignores the brutal war in Sudan.
