OCHA: At least 2 million children have been forced from their homes since conflict erupted in Sudan

31 August 2023 (OCHA) The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said that about 4.8 million people have been displaced inside and outside Sudan due to the conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces that began in mid-April 2023. It added that about 1 million people have crossed into neighboring countries. .

The office said in its report that at least 2 million children have been forced to leave their homes since the outbreak of the conflict in Sudan more than four months ago.

According to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the World Health Organization has reported 3,046 suspected measles cases and 84 related deaths in the states of White Nile, Blue Nile, Gedaref, Kassala, Gezira, West Kordofan, River Nile, North Darfur and the Red Sea.

The office stated that the Sudan Humanitarian Response Plan for 2023 is only 26.4 percent funded, with $676.9 million received as of August 31.
