The UNICEF representative in Sudan expresses her concern about the escalation of violence on the island

December 19, 2023 (pen) Mandip O'Brien, UNICEF Representative in Sudan, expressed her deep concern about the escalation of violence on the island.

Mandeep stated that the city of Madani receives hundreds of thousands of children and their families, including those fleeing the war.

The representative of the United Nations Children's Fund in Sudan said, "They need protection and care, not more fear and trauma. The violence must stop and peace prevail."

It is noteworthy that since the outbreak of the conflict in Sudan last April 15 between the armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces, the humanitarian crisis has worsened, especially the situation of children, as millions of children have been displaced and thousands suffer from acute malnutrition and lack of health care.
