Mass exodus and severe humanitarian crisis in Abu Shouk camp in Darfur

June 30, 2024 (PEN) Adam Rijal, the official spokesman for the General Coordination for Displaced Persons and Refugees, stated that the Abu Shouk camp for the displaced in the city of El Fasher in Darfur is witnessing a wave of mass exodus towards the areas of Jebel Marra, Tawila, and other unknown places, in light of catastrophic humanitarian conditions. Displaced people suffer from severe shortages of food, drinking water and shelter materials, putting them in a constant state of starvation.

The Abu Shouk camp emergency room confirmed that the camp was subjected to violent artillery shelling by the Rapid Support Forces, resulting in 21 martyrs and wounded, in addition to the destruction of many homes, which deepens the humanitarian crisis and increases the suffering of the population.
