The French Foreign Minister and her Djiboutian counterpart discuss the situation in Sudan

January 11, 2024 (PEN) French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna discussed with her Djiboutian counterpart Mahmoud Ali Youssef yesterday, Wednesday, the situation in the Red Sea and Sudan.

According to the French Foreign Ministry, Catherine stressed support for the mediation efforts made by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) under the presidency of Djibouti to achieve a ceasefire in Sudan, ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, and resume the political transition process.

“The Sudanese crisis and the situation between Somalia and Ethiopia were also at the heart of the talks, where Djibouti’s role and mediation at the head of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development were appreciated,” Mahmoud Ali Yusuf said.
