The Red Cross is intensifying its efforts to confront the damage of Hurricane Daniel in Libya

October 21, 2023 (pen) The International Committee of the Red Cross said that eastern Libya witnessed a devastating impact due to Storm Daniel, which led to severe damage in multiple cities. She added that the most affected areas are Derna, Sousse, Takenes, Al-Marj, Al-Bayda, Massa, Qandola, and Shahat.

The International Committee of the Red Cross worked hand in hand with its partner, the Libyan Red Crescent, to respond to humanitarian needs following these floods.

It is noteworthy that the city of Derna suffered the greatest damage as a result of Hurricane Daniel, as its dam collapsed, causing the death of about 4 thousand people, and the number of deaths in all neighborhoods of Libya reached about 18-20 thousand people, according to what the mayor of Derna said.
