Qatar announces supplying the Lebanese army with fuel for a period of 6 months

August 31, 2023 (Anadol) Qatar announced on Wednesday an agreement to supply the Lebanese army with fuel, for a period of 6 months, worth $ 30 million.

Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported that "the Qatar Fund for Development announced an agreement to supply the army with fuel in the sisterly Republic of Lebanon, for a period of 6 months, worth $ 30 million."

The agency added that this comes "within the framework of the State of Qatar's firm commitment to support the institutions of the Lebanese Republic, and to stand by the brotherly Lebanese people."

It is noteworthy that the fund had provided support to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, by covering the expenses of diesel (fuel) for a number of health facilities and facilities in Lebanon, according to the Qatari agency.

Countries, led by the United States and France, have stepped up their military and logistical support for the Lebanese army, including strengthening the state's sovereignty and preventing its collapse, observers said.

Since 2019, the Lebanese have been suffering from an unprecedented economic crisis, which has led to a record collapse in the value of the local currency against the dollar, as well as a shortage of fuel and medicines, and the collapse of their purchasing power.
