OCHA announces the displacement of more than 7 million people since the outbreak of conflict in Sudan

January 4, 2024 (PEN) The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said that more than 7.3 million people have been displaced inside and outside Sudan since the outbreak of the conflict on April 15, 2023 between the armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces.

The office explained that the number of displaced people in Sudan has increased by about 500,000 people in one month, indicating that this is due to the conflict in parts of the island and other states.

OCHA stated that insecurity, looting, bureaucratic obstacles, a weak network, and limited technical and humanitarian staff affect the delivery of aid to many parts of the country.

According to the office, the humanitarian response plan for Sudan for the year 2023 has been funded by only 40.8%.
