Sudan People's Liberation Movement denies meeting Helou with Burhan

September 12, 2023 (PEN) - The Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) denied that its leader Abdel Aziz al-Hilu met with army commander Abdel Fattah al-Burhan in the Eritrean capital Asmara.

This came in a press circular issued by the SPLM spokesperson in response to a news issued in the media yesterday that Burhan met with the head of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North Abdul Aziz Adam Al-Hilu in Asmara and called on him to fight alongside the armed forces against the Rapid Support.

The press circular denied SPLM's involvement in the fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.

The conflict in Sudan since April 15 between the armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces has killed more than 5,000 people and displaced millions, according to United Nations reports.
