UNICEF calls for urgent support for its systems to avoid a trans-generational disaster in Sudan

17 September 2023(pen) – Five months into the conflict in Sudan, they and their partners remain and provide services, said the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). UNICEF said urgent support is needed to maintain systems that provide life-saving support to avoid a transgenerational catastrophe for every child in Sudan.

According to UNICEF statistics, water has been delivered to 2.8 million people and life-saving supplies have been provided to 5.1 million people, and UNICEF added that 9 million children have been screened for malnutrition, 152,000 children have been treated and 282,000 children have been cared for and psychosocial support, education and protection provided through 464 safe spaces.
