The United Nations Development Program confirms that women and girls are disproportionately affected by the ongoing conflict

January 8, 2024 (PEN) The United Nations Development Program said that, amid the chaos prevailing in Sudan, women and girls in Sudan are disproportionately affected.

The program added in a tweet via the (X) platform , “They are suffering from increased poverty, violence, displacement, and limited access to basic services, health care, and opportunities.”

Recently, reports have been issued about an increase in the special needs of women and girls and an increase in cases of gender-based violence since the outbreak of conflict in Sudan on April 15 last between the armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces.
