Blinken discusses efforts to end crisis in Sudan with Saudi and Emirati counterparts

November 9, 2024 (PEN) US Secretary of State Antony Blinken held two phone calls with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, during which they discussed developments in the crisis in Sudan and ways to enhance stability.

Blinken thanked his Saudi counterpart for the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to lead regional initiatives aimed at achieving a ceasefire in Sudan, stressing the need to expand the scope of humanitarian aid and support the political process to form a civilian government.

During the call with his Emirati counterpart, he stressed the importance of stopping the fighting and facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid to support the political process to establish a civilian government that contributes to the stability of Sudan.
