Gulf Cooperation Council countries express their concern about the repercussions of the crisis in Sudan

September 14, 2023 (SPA) According to the Saudi Press Agency, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries have expressed concern over the repercussions of the current crisis in Sudan, stressing the need for calm, giving priority to the language of dialogue and unity, and preventing any external interference in Sudanese affairs that fuels the conflict and threatens regional peace and security.

This came in a joint statement of the GCC countries delivered by the Permanent Representative of the Sultanate of Oman, Ambassador Idris Al-Khanjari, before the Human Rights Council during the interactive dialogue on Sudan. He valued the continuation of the diplomatic efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America to bring views closer and give priority to the language of dialogue between the Sudanese parties, in a way that contributes to enhancing the security and stability of Sudan, stressing at the same time that the GCC countries stand by the people of Sudan.

In this regard, he called on the international community to respond urgently to the humanitarian response call and to provide more humanitarian and medical assistance to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people.
