Hundreds of thousands are displaced as a result of conflicts from Gezira State to Gedaref State

December 25, 2023 (PEN) The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees explained that the ongoing war in Gezira State is forcing hundreds of thousands of people to flee their homes, as it stated that more than 7,000 people were displaced to Gedaref State.

She stressed that she is on the ground and working in cooperation with the authorities and their partners to provide vital humanitarian aid.

There are also more than 5 million people who have fled their homes, according to the UNHCR.

She added that the population is seeking safety and protection inside Sudan and in the dialogue countries.

It is noteworthy that since the beginning of the war on April 15 between the armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces, millions of people have been displaced internally and externally.
